“The FSF informs that the results of the mandatory PCR tests carried out on Saturday for the team’s trio defender Kalidou Koulibaly, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and striker Famara Diédhiou and a member of the management came back positive,” said a statement on the Senegalese football association’s official Twitter account, without providing further details.
Earlier on Sunday, Senegal’s goalkeeper Alfred Gomis reportedly joined the team in Cameroon after recovering from coronavirus.
Late on Saturday, the CAF confirmed that any team at the African Cup of Nations will be required to play a match if it has a minimum of 11 available squad members who have tested negative for the coronavirus.
Senegal, the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations runner-up, lies in Group B at the African Cup finals in Cameroon alongside Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi.
Senegal lost 1-0 to Algeria in the final of the 2019 edition in Egypt.
