Seven-time African champions Egypt will begin their AFCON 2021 campaign with a clash against the Nigerian Super Eagles on Tuesday.
“The PCR tests for all the team’s members came back negative,” reads a short statement by the EFA.
A few hours ahead of flying to Cameroon for the African Cup on Saturday, the Pharaohs were hit with the news that goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Gabal and coach Essam El-Hadary will not be travelling with the team after testing positive for the coronavirus on Friday.
Egypt is playing in the prestigious continental tournament in Group D alongside Nigeria, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau.
Egypt is aiming for its first AFCON title since 2010.
