Egypt’s national team’s doctor Mohamed Abul-Ela revealed late on Wednesday that Ahly midfielder Amr El-Sulaya will be ready for the Guinea Bissau game in the second round of the African Cup of Nations’ group stage.

Sulaya had picked up an injury while warming up ahead of an Egyptian Premier League game, directly after his participation with the national team in the Arab Cup.

“Sulaya is participating normally in training, and he will be available for the Guinea Bissau match,” Abul-Ela told On Time Sports TV channel.

The national team’s doctor added that Ahmed Fatouh, who suffered from a muscular injury during the Pharaohs’ first game against Nigeria, will be out of commission in the next game.

“There is confusion about Fatouh being injured before the match with Nigeria match; this is not true. What happened was he had a cramp after he jumped to clear a ball in the 43rd minute of the match,” he explained

“So, we decided that it would be better for him to not complete the game. We tried to get an X-ray examination on the evening of the match, but the X-ray machine was not working then. So, we got it done the following morning.

“He will not be participating in the Guinea-Bissau match, and we are trying to prepare him for the Sudan match,” Abul-Ela added.

Egypt have lost their opening match against Nigeria 0-1 and are scheduled to face Guinea Bissau on Saturday; the last game of the group stage will be against Sudan next Wednesday.
