The 27-year-old came off the bench in the second half to score the winner in the first half of extra-time as the Pharaohs completed an impressive comeback over North African rivals Morocco.

The Aston Villa man said Egypt are now determined more than ever to win a record-extending eighth Nations Cup crown.

"We have been here for more than 30 days and we are determined to continue our campaign and win the title," Trezeguet told beIN sports after the game.

Trezeguet, who had been out of action for a lengthy spell before the Nations Cup due to a serious knee injury that he picked up with Aston Villa, said he was eager to regain his form just in time for the biennial tournament.

"I was determined to participate in this important event. I did my best to regain my fitness to play with Egypt in the Nations Cup," he added.

Trezeguet admitted that the game against hosts Cameroon in Thursday's semi-final would be "very tough".

"I promise that we will do our best to win and reach the final," he concluded.
