“Lads, we have reached the final four due to your commitment and sacrifices for your Egyptian jersey,” the 68-year-old Portuguese coach wrote on Twitter early on Tuesday.

The Pharaohs defeated Morocco 2-1 in the quarterfinal on Sunday to book a place at the prestigious tournament’s semis.

“Well done. I am sure you won more respect from your real supporters. With our humble and ambitious attitude, while others keep talking, we keep walking to our goals and dreams,” the former Portugal and Iran coach added.

Under the guidance of Queiroz, Egypt opened their AFCON group stage campaign with a 0-1 loss to Nigeria, before beating Guinea Bissau 1-0 in the second round then defeating Sudan 1-0 in the last round.

The Pharaohs continued their success in the round of 16, defeating Cote d’Ivoire 5-4 on penalties.

They then secured a comeback 2-1 win over Morocco in the quarterfinals.

The record seven-time African champions Egypt are seeking their first African Cup of Nations title since 2010, while Cameroon seek their sixth-ever AFCON title since their last one in 2017.
