Sunak's visit to Israel and nearby countries comes as part of diplomatic efforts to stop the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip.

Downing Street has announced that he will also be embarking on visits to several other regional capitals, although specific details were not disclosed.

UK PM's trip follows US President Joe Biden's visit to Israel on Wednesday. 

In a concurrent effort, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has embarked on his regional journey, commencing with discussions in Egypt on Thursday. His itinerary also includes visits to Qatar and Turkey.
