Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila said on Sunday that 3,000 oncology patients, who had been receiving treatment in Al-Rantisi and Turkish hospitals, now face death after being expelled by Israel.

In a statement issued by the ministry, Al-Kaila said that 23 out of 35 hospitals in Gaza have completely stopped working, noting that the Israeli occupation forces are besieging many hospitals and preventing medical staff, paramedics, and patients from entering or exiting.

Regarding Al-Shifa Hospital, the minister confirmed that 12 patients, including two newborns, died inside due to the lack of power and medical supplies.

"The medical staff inside Al-Shifa Hospital are not able to move between the departments and buildings of the medical complex, due to an Israeli drone that is firing at everyone who moves inside the building," she said.

Al-Kaila also referred to a looming health disaster posed by 100 bodies decomposing in the hospital courtyard, which staff are unable to bury due to drone strikes.

Moreover, Al-Kaila said that hundreds of patients and wounded are at risk of death at any moment due to the bombing and besieging of hospitals, power outages, depletion of fuel, medicines and medical supplies, and the lack of life's most basic necessities.

According to Al-Jazeera, the Spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that the Israeli occupation forces are engaged in sniper operations near Al-Shifa Hospital, adding that they have targeted a number of civilians fleeing there.

On Sunday, the ministry stated that over 11,000 people have lost their lives in Gaza since Israel initiated bombardments following the 7 October Hamas Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

"As more time passes without fuel, we will lose most patients and infants in intensive care," the Spokesperson said.

A picture of a number of newborn babies was posted by Al-Jazeera after they were taken out of incubators at Al-Shifa Hospital rendered defunct by the power outages.
