Since the war began, Israel has been targeting Gaza with an air and ground campaign that reduced large parts of the north of the territory to rubble and killed nearly 15,899 people, with 42,000 wounded.
The war started after the Hamas-led Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7, in which around 1,200 were killed and 240 taken captives, according to Israeli occupation authorities.
The Palestinian health ministry said that 70% of the dead are women and children.
