"The prime minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the positions expressed against Israel by Russian representatives at the UN and in other forums" when he spoke with Putin on Sunday, Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
"Any country that had been struck with a criminal terrorist assault such as Israel experienced would have reacted with no less force than Israel is using," he told Putin.
The United States vetoed Friday's Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza war.
On October 7, the Palestinian resistant group Hamas carried out a shock offensive on southern Israel, killing 1,200 people, according to Israeli officials.
Since then, Israel's launched an air, ground and sea assault on Gaza, in which at least 17,700 people, mostly women and children, have been killed, according to the latest figures from the Palestinian health ministry.
