According to a statement released by the Moroccan embassy in Cairo, the aid aims to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, especially their most vulnerable.

The statement noted that the humanitarian aid for Gaza consists of 40 tons of food.

The statement explained that King Mohammed VI personally paid for a large part of the shipment, particularly the aid being provided for babies and young children.

The Al-Quds Committee is also planning to distribute 2,000 food baskets to families in Jerusalem, in addition to serving 1,000 meals a day to Palestinians in the city.

The committee is an intergovernmental organization under Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) tasked with a range of issues related to Jerusalem.

The aid also includes setting up an emergency coordination room in the Jerusalem Hospital.

The Moroccan embassy said that this large-scale humanitarian operation affirms the king’s commitment and continued concern for the Palestinian cause.

The statement added that since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023, Morocco was the first country to send humanitarian aid and deliver it directly to the beneficiary population.
