Hamas fires large rocket barrage at Tel Aviv

On the 233rd day of the Israeli war on Gaza, the armed wing of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas said Sunday it has fired a "large rocket barrage" at Tel Aviv, Israel's capital, for 1st time in 4 months.

A barrage of rockets was launched from Rafah toward central Israel. An official post on X from the Israel Defense ministry.


The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said in a post on Telegram that they had targeted Tel Aviv in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians".

Israel's occupation army said at least eight rockets were fired towards central areas of the country from Gaza's far-southern city of Rafah, where the Israeli army is carrying out an intense military operation.

It said that "a number of the projectiles were intercepted " by Israeli air defences.

The Israeli ambulance service said that aside from two women who were slightly hurt after falling while running to bomb shelters, there were no injuries in the rocket barrage, Times of Israel said.

An AFP correspondent in the Gaza Strip reported seeing rockets being fired from Rafah.

Rocket sirens blared in Tel Aviv for the first time in months, with an AFP correspondent reported hearing at least three blasts.

Israel has killed at least 35,984 people in Gaza, predominantly women and children, since the war erupted in October.
