Israel killing Palestinians at rate of 2,000 per month: OIC

Israel is trying to increase pressure on Palestinians by killing an average of 2,000 people each month since the start of the war and withholding as much humanitarian aid as possible, according to a recent report by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Media Observatory for Israel’s Crimes Against Palestinians.

The OIC observatory reported that there was a consistent pattern of killing against Gazans since the start of the war.

The report found that 3,163 Palestinians were killed in February, 2,790 in March, 1,788 in April, and 1,780 in May.

The report added “that killings peaked in October at 8,635 murdered.”

This consistent level of killing indicates a conscious effort to step up pressure against Palestinians in Gaza, according to the report, which usually manifested as Israeli massacres against civilians.

Nuseirat massacre

“The largest number of casualties appeared in the Nuseirat Camp massacre, in which 283 people were murdered and 816 wounded, amid massive destruction due to air, sea, and land bombardment of the camp,” the report noted.

The death toll from Saturday’s  massacre includes at least 64 children and 57 women, the Palestinian health ministry said.

Medics described scenes of horror and chaos as casualties from the attack poured into nearby hospitals that were already struggling to treat the wounded from days of previous Israeli strikes in the area.

“We had the gamut of war wounds, trauma wounds, from amputations to eviscerations to trauma, to TBIs (traumatic brain injuries), fractures, and obviously, big burns,” said Karin Huster of Doctors Without Borders, an international charity working in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, one of the facilities that received dead and wounded.

“Kids completely grey or white from the shock, burnt, screaming for their parents. Many of them are not screaming because they are in shock.”

UNRWA school bombarded

Israel has also been targeting facilities and institutions associated with the UN, according to the report.

The report highlighted the killing of 37 Palestinians in the bombing of an UNRWA school in Nuseirat camp on Thursday.

Israeli bombs struck the upper floors of the school at night as the refugees slept, according to WAFA.

The head of the UN Palestinian refugee agency said the strike came "without prior warning" to thousands of displaced people sheltering there.

"Another UNRWA school turned shelter attacked," Philippe Lazzarini wrote on social media platform X.

Israel withholds aid

Israel has also been withholding aid to ramp up pressure against Palestinians in the besieged strip.

The report stated, “that nine out of 10 children in Gaza cannot consume sufficient nutrients to ensure their healthy growth and development.”

The Palestinian Red Crescent raised the alarm Monday over the impending threat of acute famine across the Gaza Strip, as Israel continues to enforce a closure of the Rafah Border Crossing, the main gateway for humanitarian aid into the blockaded enclave.

The alarm comes on the heels of a report from United Nations agencies last week that warned over 1 million Gazans – half the population of the strip –could experience the highest level of starvation by the middle of next month if the Israeli war continues.

The report also highlighted the danger that the Israeli invasion on Rafah poses to aid operations and its role in exacerbating the danger of famine.

Israel's war on Gaza has killed 37,124 Palestinians and wounded more than 80,000 others, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry.
