Sources told WAFA that shops were shuttered and life came to a standstill as calls were made for people to take part in protests and demonstrations in support of detainees in occupation jails.

The Palestinian national liberation movement Fatah announced a general strike in the Ramallah governorate Tuesday in condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s assassination of the four Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Hamas said one of its commanders was killed in a clash with Israeli forces during the raid on Ramallah.

In a statement released late Monday, Hamas said Mohammed Jaber Abdo was killed along with three other fighters in Kafr Ni’ma in Ramallah, noting that Abdo had spent 20 years in Israeli prisons.

Hamas named the other three fighters Muhammad Raslan Abdo, Wassim Bassam Zidane Abu Adi, and Rushdi Samih Omar Ataya.

Violence has surged in the West Bank since the start of the war in Gaza.

Around 538 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including 133 children, and more than 5,200 others have been injured since 7 October.
