The Group, which includes Lufthansa Airlines, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, has cancelled all its flights to and from Israel according to the company's flight schedule, Israeli Ynet news reported.

On Wednesday, US airlines Delta and United announced the cancellation of planned flights to Israel for several days amid spiralling tensions with Hezbollah and Iran and anticipation of potential large-scale attacks on Israel in the coming days.

Delta cancelled its flights until 2 August. United Airlines cancelled its flights until 6 August. Israeli media estimated that the cancellations left tens of thousands of Israelis stranded in the United States.

Israeli Army Radio reported that American carriers United Airlines and Delta Air Lines decided on the move following the assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr on Tuesday.

Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth daily also reported that British Airways had announced the suspension of its flights to Israel. The British company, however, denied such claims, telling The Times of Israel: “Our flights to Tel Aviv are currently operating as planned and have not been cancelled.”

Austrian Airlines and Germany’s Lufthansa suspended flights on Monday to and from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv.

Several Western countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have warned their citizens against travel to Lebanon. Poland said on Tuesday it stands ready to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon.
