“We emphasize that the incident does not represent our ethics and religious teachings in dealing with captives, and we will tighten the instructions after the incident has been repeated in two cases so far,” Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades, said in a statement on Telegram.

The finding came after Hamas formed a committee to investigate the shooting, Abu Obeida explained.

The Palestinian group held Israel fully responsible for all the suffering and dangers its captives were exposed to as a result of its violation of all the rules of humane and humanitarian treatment and practice of brutal genocide against the Palestinians, the statement read.

On Monday, Al-Qassam said its combatants killed an Israeli captive and wounded two others, both women, "in two separate incidents" in Gaza.

On 7 October 2023, Hamas seized 251 captives in its Aqsa Flood Operation against Israel.

In November, Hamas freed more than 100 of these captives in a prisoner swap between the Palestinian group and Israel leaving 111 in captivity in the strip.

The Israeli army had previously killed no less than 16 captives accidentally in its carpet-bombing bombing of the Palestinian territory.

The Israeli war on Gaza has killed more than 40,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 90,000 others - most of them women and children.
