Clashes erupted between Israeli forces and armed Palestinian fighters, resulting in the injury of 16 Israeli soldiers, five of whom are in serious condition and have been transferred to hospitals in Tel Aviv, Al-Qahera News reported, citing Palestinian media.
Eyewitnesses told Palestinian news agency WAFA that Israeli troops raided several homes throughout the camp and demolished multiple structures in the city's eastern neighbourhood.
WAFA added that Israeli bulldozers were destroying streets and infrastructure in both the city and the camp.
The ongoing raid targeting refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarm involves the destruction of infrastructure and the besieging of hospitals, which has so far killed at least 21 Palestinians.
Israeli forces have also targeted key water lines and electricity generators, causing widespread outages that have exacerbated the suffering of Palestinian residents.
According to WAFA, Israeli occupation forces are conducting mass detentions of Palestinian youths in the eastern neighbourhood.
Since Wednesday, at least 20 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army in simultaneous raids across several northern West Bank cities.
Since Friday, operations have been focused on Jenin and its refugee camp, which have long been strongholds of Palestinian armed groups opposing Israel.
On Saturday morning, an AFP photographer in Jenin reported ongoing clashes, with streets largely empty except for armoured vehicles, including one blocking access to the government hospital.
Violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has surged since Israel's assault on Gaza began in October.
The United Nations said on Wednesday that at least 637 Palestinians had been killed in the territory by Israeli troops or settlers since the Gaza war began.
Nineteen Israelis, including soldiers, have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during army operations over the same period, according to Israeli official figures.
Of the 20 Palestinians reported dead since Wednesday, Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad have said at least 13 were members of their armed wings.
