“We demand immediate action to stop the Israeli aggression and the war,” Hamas said.

The Palestinian group also mentioned that it would not participate in new ceasefire talks “which would give the Israeli occupation cover to continue its aggression,” holding Israel and its supporters fully responsible for the failure of the ceasefire talks.

On Tuesday, Guterres called Gaza "a nonstop nightmare that threatens to take the entire region with it."

He said at the opening of the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that escalating air attacks across the Israel-Lebanon border have put Lebanon “at the brink.”

"We should all be alarmed by the escalation. Lebanon is at the brink. The people of Lebanon, the people of Israel, and the people of the world cannot afford Lebanon to become another Gaza," he said.
