On Friday, the occupation army stormed Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, set it on fire, and detained more than 350 individuals inside, including patients and the hospital director, Hussam Abu Safieh.
According to the Haaretz, the Israeli army confirmed it will not allow the hospital to resume operations.
The newspaper also highlighted that during military operations in Jabalia, the army severed communication links between Gaza City and the northern region of the strip.
While the Israeli army denies implementing the so-called "Generals’ Plan," Haaretz noted that aspects of the plan appear to be in effect.
The plan, attributed to former Israeli National Security Council chief Giora Eiland, involves forcibly evacuating northern Gaza of Palestinians, imposing a siege, and presenting armed resistance with a stark choice: surrender or death.
Since 5 October, Israeli forces have persisted in committing acts of genocide, forced displacement, and starvation against approximately 80,000 Palestinians trapped in Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.
These operations have resulted in over 4,000 fatalities and missing persons, alongside 12,000 injured and 1,750 detained.
Satellite images indicated that the Israeli military is carrying out extensive demolitions and explosions in residential areas of northern Gaza, according to The Washington Post.
In tandem with orders for around 400,000 people to leave their homes, Israeli forces have levelled entire neighbourhoods, built military fortifications, and constructed new roads, as revealed by high-resolution satellite images.
Between 14 October and 15 December, nearly half of Jabalia Camp was destroyed.
Targeting health system
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on Monday that the healthcare system in Gaza is under severe threat, WAFA news agency reported.
He called for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks on hospitals, saying: "The people of Gaza need access to healthcare, and humanitarian workers need access to deliver aid."
Ghebreyesus noted that both the Al-Ahli and Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Hospitals in Gaza City have been targeted by Israeli forces, resulting in significant damage.
In coordination with its partners, the WHO delivered essential medical supplies, food, and water to the Indonesian Hospital.
However, Ghebreyesus revealed that during the transfer of 10 critically ill patients to Al-Shifa Hospital, Israeli forces detained four of the patients, urging Israeli authorities to respect their health needs and rights.
Furthermore, he called for the release of Abu Safieh, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
On Saturday, the WHO reported that Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last central health facility in northern Gaza, is now empty following the Israeli army's raid.
It also warned that the systematic dismantling of the healthcare system and an 80-day siege on northern Gaza put the lives of 75,000 Palestinians living in the area at risk.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, approximately 1,060 healthcare workers have been killed since the start of the Israeli war on 7 October 2023. More than 310 have been detained, hundreds injured, and around 130 ambulances destroyed.
The targeting of medical infrastructure has deprived civilians of access to essential healthcare services.
UN agencies have warned that the current medical supplies entering Gaza are insufficient to sustain health responses, and all medical evacuations out of Gaza remain halted.
Arbitrary detention of health workers
On Monday, Amnesty International called on Israel to immediately and unconditionally release detained health workers, including the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital.
It also demanded Israel to immediately release all Palestinians held under arbitrary detention, with a particular focus on health workers.
Additionally, the organization stressed the urgent need for international action against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
