The Israeli military said Sunday it had carried out more than 100 airstrikes in the Gaza Strip over the past two days, while rescuers in the Palestinian territory reported dozens of people killed in Israeli strikes.

The occupation army said in a statement that its air force struck over 100 targets throughout the Gaza Strip, claiming it "eliminated dozens of Hamas fighters in the past two days."

Palestinian media reported that several citizens were killed and injured on Saturday evening as a result of ongoing Israeli shelling on various areas in the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources indicated that 41 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed in the Israeli strikes on different parts of Gaza since Sunday dawn.

Sources said Israeli strikes killed 27 in northern Gaza as the Israeli army forges ahead with a massive operation of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian population since early October 2024.

Last week, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned of intensified Israeli strikes in retaliation for Palestinian militants launching rocket attacks on Israeli targets in the Gaza Envelope.

The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has killed 45,717 Palestinians and injured 108,856 others, mostly women and children, according to preliminary figures.

Thousands of victims remain under the rubble and on the streets, as ambulance and rescue teams are unable to reach them.

The latest Israeli bombardment in Gaza comes as indirect negotiations for a ceasefire had resumed in Qatar.

The talks are mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, which plans an $8 billion weapons sale to Israel, US officials said.

Families of Israeli captives and others have rallied weekly to press Prime Minister Benjamen Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire deal that would bring loved ones home, saying time is running out.

At Saturday night's rally in Tel Aviv, police carried away some protesters who staged a sit-in on a street.

In a video released by Hamas before the latest rally, Israeli soldier and captive Liri Albag expressed hardship over her situation and mentioned being held for 450 days.

She also said the fighting in Gaza had wounded a fellow captive.

“We are living in an extremely terrifying nightmare,” she added without naming the injured person.
