Siegel walked onto a stage set up by the sea in Gaza City before Hamas fighters handed him over to waiting Red Cross officials.

Earlier, Hamas released Yarden Bibas, 35, and French-Israeli Ofer Kalderon, 54, to the Red Cross in similar scenes in the city of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

The truce, which began on Jan. 19, is aimed at winding down the deadliest and most destructive Israeli war ever on the ravaged Palestinian territory.

Later Saturday, Israel will free 183 Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club advocacy group said, more than doubling the previously announced figure of 90 prisoners.
