Hamas has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing a war crime by imposing collective punishment on more than two million Palestinians in Gaza through starvation and deprivation of bare necessities.

For the seventh day, Gaza has been subjected to a total blockade as Israel prevented the entry of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid.

Hamas warned that this crime not only targets civilians but also affects Israelis held by the resistance, “who are subjected to the same restrictions.”

“War criminal Netanyahu bears full responsibility for the repercussions of the brutal crime of siege and closure and his indifference to his prisoners in the Gaza Strip,” the statement read.

The Palestinian resistance called on Arab countries and the United Nations to take urgent action to stop what it described as Israel’s “brutal crime of starvation and siege” and to hold Netanyahu and his government accountable for their ongoing crimes against humanity.

The use of starvation as a weapon is prohibited under international law, with human rights organizations warning that Israel’s blockade is pushing Gaza deeper into a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

Last week, Israel suspended the entry of all food, medicines, and supplies into the Gaza Strip to force Hamas to accept its proposal for extending the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
