Speaking in a press conference after meeting with Scholz in the German capital on Thursday, King Abdullah stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire, the resumption of humanitarian aid, and an end to Israel's war on Gaza.

He highlighted Jordan's efforts to support Gaza, including sending aid, and expressed gratitude for Germany's backing of these humanitarian initiatives.

The Jordanian royal also called for global attention to the growing violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, warning that the displacement of tens of thousands of people could destabilize the entire region.

For his part, Chancellor Scholz echoed the king's call for a Gaza ceasefire and emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid to enter the strip.

He reaffirmed Berlin's commitment to a two-state solution as the only sustainable path to peace, stressing the importance of resuming negotiations once the war ends.

King Abdullah also raised concerns over attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem, warning that such actions only fuel tensions and further undermine peace prospects.

He reiterated that the path to peace lies through a political solution based on the two-state framework, ensuring security for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza on 18 March, killing over 1,000 Palestinians, including at least 322 children, and wounding nearly 2,400.

The total death toll since the war began on 7 October 2023 has now surpassed 50,423, with more than 114,000 people wounded, the majority of whom are women and children.

Since 2 March 2025, Israel has sealed all crossings to Gaza, blocking the entry of essential goods such as food, water, fuel, and medicine and leaving more than 2 million Palestinians on the verge of starvation.

Germany is the second largest arms supplier to Israel after the United States.
