President Donald Trump is set to meet a select group of Arab and Muslim leaders on Tuesday at the U.N. General Assembly in New York to discuss efforts to end the war in Gaza, Axios reported, citing two Arab officials familiar with the meeting.

The meeting will take place just days before Trump hosts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on September 29, Axios said.

It also comes amid a growing wave of Western nations recognizing the State of Palestine—following recognitions by the UK, Canada, and Australia on Sunday—alongside France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Malta, which are set to recognize Palestine on Monday.

Israel, which has escalated its illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank, has threatened to retaliate against any state recognition by annexing parts of the occupied territory.

The White House has already sent invitations for the meeting, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Axios reported. Leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey have been invited to attend.

The meeting is expected to focus on a post-war plan for Gaza, with the White House seeking the involvement of Arab and Muslim countries in a stabilisation force to replace the Israeli military, Axios added.

Sources said the administration is also encouraging them to send troops to support this effort.

At the same time, Arab leaders are expected to press Trump to urge Netanyahu to end Israel’s nearly two-year war on Gaza and to refrain from further annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank.

The UAE has already made it clear to the White House that Israeli annexation could lead to the collapse of the Abraham Accords, Trump's signature foreign policy achievement from his first term.

Trump is also scheduled to meet separately with leaders from several Gulf countries—Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and Kuwait—on the same day, Axios reported.

A key topic in that meeting will be the Gulf states’ concerns over Israel’s strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, the first-ever Israeli attack on a Gulf country.

Arab officials told Axios that the Gulf countries will seek assurances from the Trump administration that such attacks will not be repeated.
