Hamas released a video late Monday showing captured Israeli soldier Alon Ohel, who held Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the fate of the captives.

“Does anyone still believe Netanyahu? He and those with him want to kill us. Our fate has been decided, and these are our last days. We have become a burden on the Netanyahu government,” Ohel said in the video.

He called on US envoy Steve Witkoff not to assist Netanyahu and to pressure him to avoid killing the prisoners.

Ohel also appealed to his family and the Israeli public to continue protests demanding the Netanyahu government secure a prisoner exchange to save their lives.

The release of this video comes as debate intensifies in Israel over the fate of soldiers captured by Hamas, coinciding with Israel’s military operations in Gaza City and growing public pressure on Netanyahu to finalize a ceasefire deal.

On 5 September, Hamas published footage showing Ohel and another captive, Guy Gilboa Dalal. This was the first time a video of Ohel in captivity had been released.

Ohel’s family first learned he was alive during the February ceasefire, when released Israeli captives who had been held with him confirmed it.

Dalal also appeared in the new footage inside a car, referencing his 22 months in captivity, suggesting the video was recorded recently.

He was last seen in a video released during the February ceasefire, when he and captive Eviatar David watched other captives being freed.
