Palestinian Presidency urges global pressure on Israel to allow shelter aid into Gaza

The Palestinian Presidency on Saturday called for urgent international intervention to pressure Israel to allow the entry of mobile homes, tents, and critical shelter materials into the Gaza Strip, warning that harsh weather conditions are now endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of displaced people.

In a statement reported on by WAFA, the Palestinian Presidency appealed to the international community—particularly the US administration and the countries guaranteeing the Gaza ceasefire agreement—to act immediately to ensure that lifesaving shelter assistance is delivered without delay.

According to the statement, most of the tents still standing in Gaza are no longer able to keep out rain or provide basic protection. With winter storms already hitting the territory, the Presidency said displaced families, including children, women, and the elderly, are facing grave dangers as water seeps into tents and temperatures fall.

The Presidency accused Israel of imposing restrictions and obstacles that prevent the Palestinian government from transporting mobile housing units, tents, and essential equipment into the besieged territory. It stressed that these barriers must be lifted immediately to allow aid to reach those most in need.

Israel’s blockage of shelter supplies comes as the situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly. Heavy rains this week flooded thousands of makeshift tents across the Strip, soaking bedding, clothing, and the few personal belongings displaced families were able to save during the war.

The Presidency said the humanitarian crisis requires urgent action, noting that adequate shelter is now a matter of survival for the displaced population. It emphasized that protecting civilians in Gaza—particularly vulnerable groups—must be treated as an immediate international responsibility.

The Presidency reiterated that without rapid intervention, the worsening weather conditions could lead to further suffering and loss of life among Gaza’s already devastated population.
