The Israeli occupation military claimed that troops shot and killed a suspect who stabbed two soldiers as they were confronting him near Ateret, an Israeli settlement north of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
In a statement late Monday, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas celebrated the ramming attack near Hebron, saying that it came “in the context of the legitimate response of our people” to Israel’s ongoing raids in the West Bank.
The Israeli occupation army has stepped up its aggression in the West Bank since the start of its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
In recent weeks, the West Bank has also experienced a surge in Israeli settler violence against Palestinian civilians.
OHCHR has verified that Israeli occupation forces and settlers have killed 1,030 Palestinians there, including 233 children, since 7 October 2023.
The number of bodies of martyrs held by the occupation has also risen to 761 bodies, including 74 children, 89 prisoners, and 10 female martyrs.
