The Israeli occupation army claimed the four were armed resistance fighters who opened fire on its troops after emerging from a tunnel.
It said none of its soldiers had been injured.
Palestinian reistance groups have not confirmed Israel’s account.
Israel has killed more than 500 Palestinians since the ceasefire, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US, came into effect last October.
Gaza health officials have said Israeli air strikes last Wednesday killed 24 people, as bombardments continues in multiple areas of the besieged Strip.
That wave of strikes came after Israel partly reopened the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on February 2. The crossing, Gaza’s only outlet to the outside, had been largely closed since Israeli forces bombarded it and seized control in May 2024, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the territory.
Since the limited reopening, around 180 Palestinians have been allowed to leave Gaza, according to local officials. Israeli authorities have restricted passage almost exclusively to medical patients and their accompanying relatives, leaving tens of thousands in urgent need of travel for treatment still trapped inside the Palestinian territory.
The second phase of the Gaza ceasefire foresees primarily a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, along with the full reopening of the Rafah crossing.
