In a statement released on the X platform on Friday, the UN agency stressed that ensuring their right to education is not merely an option, but an absolute necessity to help them overcome the tragedies of war and build their future.
UNRWA emphasized that the humanitarian situation throughout Gaza remains dire, compounded by restrictions on humanitarian access.
The agency stated that it continues its work providing essential services to displaced people, including healthcare, education, shelter, food assistance, and protection services, through its unique network and extensive field presence.
UNRWA added that the scale of the needs far exceeds what is currently being provided and reiterated its call for lifting the Israeli restrictions on humanitarian access.
According to UNICEF, children make up about half of Gaza's nearly two million displaced people, who have been forced to flee their homes in search of safety and shelter elsewhere in the Strip since the start of the Israeli military operation in October.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) estimates that some 17,000 children in Gaza have been orphaned.
During Israel's genocidal war on Gaza for over two years, more than 71,000 Palestinians were killed, over half of them children and women, and most children lost their chance at education for two consecutive years. Approximately 171,000 others were injured.
