Israeli strike kills Palestinian family, including one-year-old child, in central Gaza

A pre-dawn Israeli airstrike killed three members of a Palestinian family, including a one-year-old child, in central Gaza on Sunday, a hospital said.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah said it had received the bodies of Mohammed Ibrahim Abu Malouh (38 years old), his wife Alaa Magdi Zaqlan (36 years old), and their infant Osama, after an Israeli strike hit a residential apartment in the Al-Nuseirat camp before dawn.

The hospital said around 10 people were wounded.

Israel continues to rain daily attacks on Gaza despite a formal ceasefire in place since October, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the US, killing at least 890 Palestinians.

eparately, Israeli fighter jets carried out another airstrike on the city of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, destroying a home belonging to the Al-Kurd family, igniting fires at the scene, and causing extensive damage in the vicinity of Yafa Hospital in the city.

Meanwhile, Israeli naval gunboats continued firing heavy machine guns toward the coast of Gaza City, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA on Sunday.

Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 72,783 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since its outbreak in October 2023, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Moreover, the humanitarian suffering in Gaza continues as the Israeli occupation authorities continue to restrict the entry of aid into the Palestinian Strip in violation of the ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Friday that hospitals in Gaza are being prevented from functioning properly due to a severe shortage of medical supplies, denouncing Israeli restrictions on essential items.

The organization said that more than 43,000 people in Gaza have life-changing injuries from the war, 10,000 of them are children.

"They require long-term rehabilitation, prosthetics and assistive devices, many of which face delays and restrictions on entry," it added.

Last September, the United Nations (UN) Independent International Commission of Inquiry (COI) stated that Israel committed a "genocide" in Gaza in a bid to "destroy the Palestinians" there.
