The convoy included food baskets, flour, medical supplies, relief materials, and petroleum products needed to operate hospitals and vital facilities in the strip.
The ERC said the convoy also carried essential supplies, including clothing and tents, to support displaced and affected Palestinians.
The aid shipment comes as part of the ERC’s role as Egypt’s national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
The organization said it has maintained a presence at the border since the start of the crisis, stressing that the Rafah crossing has never been closed from the Egyptian side.
The ERC added that its teams remain on standby at all logistics centres to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and relief into Gaza.
Since the start of the crisis, the Egyptian Red Crescent said it has delivered more than 1 million tonnes of aid to Gaza, supported by more than 65,000 volunteers.
The convoy is the fourth ERC aid shipment to Gaza this week, following 3,458 tonnes sent on Monday, 3,163 tonnes on Tuesday, and 2,974 tonnes on Wednesday, according to ERC figures.
Together with Thursday’s 4,991-tonne convoy, the ERC has dispatched 14,586 tonnes of aid to Gaza in four days.
The latest shipments come as Gaza’s humanitarian situation remains severe despite the ceasefire announced in October 2025.
This week, UN humanitarian coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov told the UN Security Council that Gaza still faces “profound uncertainty and immense human suffering,” with more than 1,000 Palestinians killed since the ceasefire, according to Gaza health authorities.
On Wednesday, Israeli strikes killed at least seven Palestinians, including an infant and an eight-year-old child, and destroyed tents sheltering around 200 displaced families in Al-Mawasi near Khan Younis.
