Egypt paired with Ghana in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Egypt were paired with Ghana in Group B of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals during the draw that was held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire on Thursday.

Group B also includes Cape Verde and Mozambique.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place from 13 January, 2024, until 11 February.

Egypt secured their spot in the finals by finishing atop Group D in the qualifiers, amassing an impressive 15 points from six games.

Group E has been labeled the Group of Death which includes Tunisia, Mali, South Africa, and Namibia, as they vie for a place in the next stage.

Hosts Côte d'Ivoire will compete in Group A alongside Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea Bissau, while reigning champions Cameroon were handed a tough draw in Group C alongside Senegal, Guinea, and Gambia.

Group D will see Algeria facing Burkina Faso, Mauritania, and Angola, promising tough competition.

Morocco has been handed what appears to be a relatively straightforward group stage, as they were paired with DR Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania in Group F.
