The Super Eagles, three times AFCON champs, will be facing a challenging task in Group A alongside hosts Cote d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.

"We will fight to win the Africa Cup although we acknowledge it won't be an easy feat," Peseiro conveyed to CAF Online.

"Our group is formidable because we are up against home team Cote d'Ivoire who possess a talented squad," he said.

Nigeria participated in the Cup of Nations 20 times to date, securing the title on three occasions in 1980, 1994, and 2013.

Tough group!

The Super Eagles will commence their campaign at the AFCON 2023 against Equatorial Guinea on 14 January, followed by a match against Cote d'Ivoire on 18 January then a game against Guinea-Bissau on 22 January.

Peseiro acknowledged to CAF Online that Equatorial Guinea, who reached the quarter-finals in the last AFCON, have had a better recent performance than Nigeria

However, the Portuguese tactician, who took the hem in mid-2022, said that he firmly believes that his talented side can recreate the magic of previous AFCON triumphs.

Nigeria boasts the necessary quality to contend for the title with prominent players such as Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen in their ranks.
