Ayew, who has made 115 appearances for Ghana, making him the country's most-capped footballer, hopes to contribute to the team's success.

Following the 2022 World Cup, the Le Havre winger faced challenges in terms of playing time with the Black Stars, as he only played 150 minutes across nine games.

“My priority is to either start or come off the bench in the Ivory Coast,” Ayew told reporters on Wednesday.

“After that, let us see what happens. What is most important is that Ghana did well in this competition as we had a bad 2022 Cup of Nations, going out after the first round.”

The four-time African champions were stunned in the previous Nations Cup as they failed to progress from the group stage.

In the current tournament, Ghana find themselves placed in the same group as Egypt, alongside Cape Verde and Mozambique.
