Belmadi, in a statement on Thursday, announced that his squad was brimming with anticipation and couldn't wait to get their journey underway.

"We are delighted to be here, and we are eager to kick off the tournament," Belmadi was quoted as saying on CAF Online.

"We have had a solid preparation, something we lacked in the previous AFCON. Our objective, like that of many other teams, is to win this competition. We are fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead," he added.

Riyad Mahrez, the former Manchester City star who now plies his trade for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, echoed Belmadi's sentiments, emphasizing their meticulous preparation and readiness for the tournament.

"We have had an excellent preparation, and we are ready to demonstrate our level of readiness and competitiveness. Our goal is to secure victory in the opening game, and from there, we will take it game by game," Mahrez stated.

The Desert Foxes find themselves drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Burkina Faso, and Mauritania.

They will commence their campaign against Angola on Monday, 15th January, followed by a clash with Burkina Faso five days later.

Their group stage campaign will conclude on 23rd January against Mauritania as they strive to progress in the tournament.
