The team kicked off strongly with an early goal by Mohamed just two minutes into the match. However, they faced setbacks, conceding two goals in the second half before Mohamed Salah managed to score a late equalizer from the spot.
“We didn’t backtrack; the weather in Africa is different, and the humidity is very high. It had an impact on our game and concentration,” Mohamed explained to BeIN Sports.
The draw marked the first time the Pharaohs dropped points against Mozambique, having won all five of their previous encounters before Sunday's match.
"We were disappointed to concede two goals, but it's good this setback comes at an early stage. We can learn from it and avoid mistakes in crucial matches," Mohamed admitted.
Looking ahead to their upcoming clash against Ghana, Mohamed emphasized the team's focus on preparation and their determination to bounce back.
"We were concentrating on Mozambique, but now we will turn that page and switch our focus to Ghana," he concluded.
With two points dropped, Egypt is now gearing up for their Thursday encounter against Ghana, hoping to regain momentum in the 2023 African Nations Cup in Côte d'Ivoire.
