Ghana's national team head coach Chris Hughton expressed his frustration after a 2-2 draw with Egypt in the second round of Group B at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) while remaining optimistic about their chances of advancing to the round of 16.

"We will continue to fight. It's true that there's a lot of frustration in the locker room at the moment. Our team deserved more, but that's football," said Hughton after the match.

Mohammed Kudus scored both goals for Ghana, but defensive mistakes by the Black Stars allowed Omar Marmoush and Mostafa Mohamed to equalize the score twice.

"It's frustrating. With a similar performance, we would have surely won. Two errors cost us the match. We missed the opportunity to secure three points," lamented the Ghana coach.

Ghana will face Mozambique in their final group stage game on Monday.

Currently, the Black Stars sit at the bottom of Group B with one point, while Egypt is in second place with two points following their draws with Mozambique and Ghana, respectively.

Cape Verde, who defeated Ghana in the opening round last week, lead the group with three points. They are set to face Mozambique later on Friday.

"There are no more small teams in Africa. We are preparing for a tough match against them. The calculations have been made, and we need a victory to pursue our dream. I believe we are capable of achieving it," concluded Chris Hughton.
