The match started unfavourably for the Pharaohs, and they faced a setback just before halftime when Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was forced off the field due to a left thigh injury.

"We don't have any updates yet. I spoke with him last night, and as it is with these injuries, further assessment is required. That's what they are doing now, and we'll have more information soon. Naturally, it was a shock in that moment, thinking 'Oh my God, what is it?'" Klopp revealed during a press conference on Friday.

"There wasn't any visible impact or high-intensity collision that caused it. Typically, hamstring injuries manifest differently, but he still felt something. We all know how rarely Mo goes off or needs to go off, so there is definitely something going on, and we will see," he added.

"However, at this moment, I don't have any further information," concluded the Liverpool boss.

Egypt is set to face Cape Verde in the final round of the group stage games on Monday, and their only option for advancement in the continental tournament is to secure a victory.

The Pharaohs currently sit in second place in Group B with two points after two draws.

They are one point behind group leaders Cape Verde, who will face Mozambique in the second round later on Friday.
