Defending champions Teranga Lions roared to a convincing 3-1 win at the Stade Charles Konan Banny on Friday, with Sarr opening the scoring and earning Man of the Match honours. The victory secured Senegal's place in the knockout stages.

“I am happy with the victory over Cameroon. I remember that in 2017 we lost to Cameroon in the quarter-finals, and during this match we did everything to win. Now we will prepare for the next round in the competition,” Ismaila Sarr told reporters after the game.

The 25-year-old Watford player hailed the team's unity as a key factor in their success.

“We were physically prepared for the match, and we live as one family in the national team, and this is what made us achieve the victory. We gave everything we had for this,” Sarr concluded.

Senegal's win further strengthens their position as one of the favourites for the AFCON title. They will now turn their attention to the knockout stages, where they aim to build on their impressive start.
