Morocco and DR Congo played to a 1-1 draw in their second group-stage game at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Coming off the bench in the 52nd minute, the Stuttgart striker managed to cancel out Achraf Hakimi's early goal, resulting in both teams sharing a point.

Despite his late introduction, Katompa was named the man of the match due to his impressive performance in the second half.

"I'm happy with the award, but not the result," Katompa told reporters after the game. "There was an opportunity for us to secure all three points towards the end. We noticed that the Moroccans were fatigued and had chances."

Expressing his desire to start games, Katompa acknowledged that the decision ultimately lies with the coach.

"I remain at the coach's disposal and mentally prepare myself whenever I am called upon," concluded the striker.

DR Congo currently sits in third place in Group F with two points, trailing leaders Morocco by two points.
