The 25-year-old collided with a teammate during the session and sustained a head injury, prompting immediate medical attention, according to the EFA statement.
Ashour underwent medical scans at the hospital, which confirmed the concussion. However, the statement said his condition has stabilized, and he will remain under observation for 24 hours as a precautionary measure.
The head injury is undoubtedly a blow to Egypt's AFCON aspirations, with the team having just qualified for the knockout stage as Group B runners-up.
Ashour's availability for the next round remains uncertain, and his absence would be a significant setback for the Pharaohs who were already suffered a double blow as star winger Mohamed Salah suffered a hamstring injury and goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy was ruled out of the tournament with a dislocated shoulder.
