The two teams will meet at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro during the round of 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d'Ivoire.

Moutoussamy, 27, who shares the field with Mohamed, 25, at the French club Nantes, spoke highly of his teammate.

"I know Mostafa Mohamed well because we are teammates. He is a formidable striker who can score with both feet. I will provide advice to the defenders on how to contain him.

Mohamed has netted for the Pharaohs with a goal in each of their three meetings in the first round.

"We are fully focused on the game and understand that we are up against a tough opponent with a rich history of winning titles," Moutoussamy added.

Egypt holds an impressive record against DR Congo, with the upcoming match marking their 12th meeting.

The Pharaohs have emerged victorious in seven of their previous encounters, with three draws and only one win for The Leopards.

"While we acknowledge that we haven't defeated Egypt in some time, we will not dwell on the past. Our sole focus is on the upcoming game," Moutoussamy emphasized.

Egypt experienced setbacks during the group stage, with key star and captain Mohamed Salah sustaining an injury, and first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi also sidelined in separate matches against Ghana and Cape Verde.

"We will strive to impose our playing style against Egypt, disregarding their absentees," stated the Nantes midfielder.

Moutoussamy expressed his excitement about participating in the round of 16, stating, "We are eager to compete and secure victory to advance to the next round."

The winner of the Egypt-DR Congo match will face the victor between Equatorial Guinea and Guinea in the quarter-finals.
