DR Congo's manager Sebastien Desabre emphasized the need for his team to regroup swiftly ahead of Saturday's third-place decider, following their disappointing loss to Cote d'Ivoire in the semifinals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday.

Despite the setback, Desabre expressed determination to secure third place in the upcoming match on Saturday.

"We are competitors; we need to quickly regroup. We have a match on Saturday to secure third place," Desabre stated after the game against Cote d'Ivoire.

The Leopards suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of finalist Cote d'Ivoire in the AFCON 2023 semifinal and are now set to face South Africa in the third-place decider on Saturday.

Cote d'Ivoire, on the other hand, will vie against Nigeria in the tournament's final on Sunday.

Expressing his initial thoughts, the Frenchman conveyed his disappointment, considering the course of the match.

"We didn't take advantage of our momentum," Desabre lamented.

"We tried various offensive strategies to equalize, including changing the system and making substitutions, but unfortunately, it didn't yield the desired outcome," added the DR Congo coach.
