The clash for the bronze medal is expected to test the teams' mental strength.

Following their elimination in the semifinals on Wednesday, South Africa and DR Congo will compete for the AFCON 2023 bronze medal on Saturday.

The Bafana Bafana suffered a loss to Nigeria in a penalty shootout, while DR Congo was defeated 1-0 by hosts Cote d'Ivoire.

"We delivered an outstanding performance against Nigeria, reaffirming our status as a formidable team," Broos remarked during the pre-game press conference.

He acknowledged the disappointment of exiting the tournament after a strong showing, emphasizing the magnitude of the letdown.

"The upcoming game holds a special significance. It will largely depend on which team can recover mentally, as both sides experienced the difficulty of losing under such circumstances," concluded the Belgian football tactician.
