Former Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has been appointed as Difaa El-Jadida's new coach, the Moroccan side announced on Tuesday.

The 65-year-old will start his mission with the Moroccan outfit after the end of the World Cup in July.

Shehata will replace Algerian coach Abdelhak Benchikha who opted to take charge of Moroccan giants Raja de Casablanca.

Shehata's managerial career has been remarkable, having guided Egypt to three consecutive African Cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, an unprecedented feat in the continent.

He was sacked by the Pharaohs following their failure to reach the 2012 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

He spent a short spell as Zamalek's coach in 2011, resigning after a troubled 11-month reign.

After leaving Zamalek, Shehata was appointed as coach of Qatari side El-Arabi but he was sacked following a string of poor results.
