Zamalek will hold their opening African Confederation Cup game in the Red Sea resort of El-Gouna upon the request of security officials, Ahram Sport reported on Tuesday.
The Cairo giants will host either Rayon Sports of Rwanda or Panthere Sportive du Nde of Cameroon in the first leg of the Confederation Cup round of 32 on 14 March.
Security officials said Zamalek will not be able to play in Cairo, without elaborating further.
The Egyptian Premier League has been suspended for an indefinite period following a Cairo football tragedy on 8 February.
Twenty Zamalek fans died of stampede after being tear-gassed by security forces, who aimed to prevent them from attending a Premier League game against ENPPI at the army-owned Air Defence Stadium in Cairo.
