Algeria Sports minister Mohamed Tahmi revealed that he was shocked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision by sending the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations hosting rights to Gabon, ignoring Algeria's offer.

Gabon beat rival bids from Algeria and Ghana in a vote by the CAF executive committee at a meeting in Cairo to host the next African Nations Cup finals in 2017.

Gabon replaces war-torn Libya, who withdrew last year as 2017 hosts because of the civil conflict raging in the country.

"CAF's decision shocked us and we can't accept it till now," Tahmi said after the decision.

"Our bid was the best among all but the CAF president gave it to Gabon. With all respect to Gabon but that was illogical," Algeria sports minister added.

"We will change our way of dealing with the CAF as we respected them in the past but now there will be a new way of dealing," Algeria Sports minister Mohamed Tahmi said.

"Can anyone tell us about the number of votes that Gabon had. I have the answer; no one knows that."

"We will not stop here. We will ask CAF how they ignored our offer, till now I can't believe," Tahmi concluded.

CAF did not make the details of voting immediately available.

CAF have already designated the hosts of the 2019 (Cameroon), 2021 (Ivory Coast) and 2023 (Guinea) finals.
