Ahly have agreed to a record sponsorship deal of LE231.25 million ($30 million), the biggest in Egyptian football history, with Saudi Arabia’s Sela Trading Company.

The Saudi corporate beat off competition from rivals Al-Ahram Advertising Agency, Ahly’s official sponsor during the past three years, to secure a three-year contract with Egypt’s most successful club.

The deal comes as a huge hit for Ahly’s board as it managed to secure a sum that exceeds the previous Ahram contract by more than LE90 million.    

Presentation Advertising Agency, arch-rival Zamalek's official sponsor, were among the contenders for the Ahly sponsorship deal but pulled out of the race earlier – leaving only Al-Ahram and Sela vying for the win.
