Egypt’s Mostafa Elgamal reached the Hammer Throw final at the World Championships in Beijing with a throw of 75.48 meters on Saturday.

The 27-year-old finished eighth after achieving his best of three at the first attempt. His second throw was a foul while the third was at 74.06 meters.

Poland’s Pawel Fajdek (78.38m) and Britain’s Nick Miller (77.42m) came on top after surpassing the qualifying performance of 77.00m.

Egypt is pinning its hopes on Elgamal and javelin thrower Ehab Abdel-Rahman to deliver the country’s first ever world medal in Athletics.

Elgamal, who set his personal best of 81.27m in Cairo in 2014, will be eyeing a medal during Sunday’s final.
