Portuguese side Sporting Braga have reached an agreement with Rio Ave to sign Egyptian striker Ahmed 'Kouka' Hassan, the club announced on Wednesday.

"An agreement was reached on Wednesday for the transfer of Koka to Sporting Braga," The club said in a statement on their official website.

"Kouka signed a five-year contract with the club and he will wear the number 20 shirt."

The Egyptian international joined Rio Ave in the summer of 2012, becoming one of their key players. He had an impressive campaign last season, having scored 12 goals in 22 appearances.

He was close to joining Portugal giants Benfica in the summer but the deal reportedly fell through after he failed a medical at the club.

The 22-year-old is among five strikers called up by Egypt coach Hector Cuper in the team's squad for the upcoming African Cup qualifier away to Chad on 6 September.
