Algeria win 7-0, Ivory Coast and Tunisia also through in World Cup qualifiers

Algeria routed Tanzania 7-0 following an emphatic display to qualify for the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

Faouzi Ghoulam and Islam Slimani scored two goals apiece and further goals from Yacine Brahimi, Riyad Mahrez and Carl Medjani gave the Algerians an impressive win as they went through with a 9-2 aggregate win after they came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 away draw in the first leg. 

Ivory Coast, Tunisia and South Africa also qualified after defeating Liberia, Mauritania and Angola respectively.

Striker Giovanni Sio scored twice in the 16th and 35th minutes to help Ivory Coast claim a 3-0 home win over Liberia in Abidjan.

Jean Michel Seri completed the rout four minutes past the hour mark. Ivory Coast had won the first-leg 1-0 on Friday

Tunisia claimed a narrow 2-1 win over minnows Mauritania in Rades to go through to the final round with a 4-2 win on aggregate.

Siam Ben Youssef opened the scoring for the hosts six minutes after the break before Saad Bguir added the second six minutes from time.

Mauritania midfielder Moulaye Khalil scored the consolation for his side in the 71st minute.

An own goal from Angola's midfielder Manucho Dinis gave South Africa an easy 1-0 win in Durban.

The Bafana Bafana won the first-leg 3-1 away on Friday.
